Yesterday was the 2nd year anniversary of my father's death. I spent the day with my mom, sister and niece. It was a bittersweet day...a day that started off at church and my father's grave, then we had lunch and went shopping. Squishy was laughing and talking in ther baby babble all day yesterday. She is THE cutest baby...and yes I'm biased, but she really is.

I would have loved to have seen my dad play with her.

Right...so I got promoted last Wed (March 1). After 3 years of waiting, it finally happened. Granted, I haven't really been trying until last year...but it just feels like it was a long time coming. I'm not sure when I find out what my exact salary is, but I know it's a pretty good raise. I'm happy. I needed it.

I haven't been able to keep up with blogs or calendars lately. I've been so busy, and I just basically just go with what's happening in the upcoming weekend...and what my boyfriend and I are going to do.

For instance, this past weekend was our 1 "month-aversary" as he puts it (we officially count Feb 5 as the day we got together and said, "you are my girlfriend/boyfriend"). This weekend was also Wednesday's birthday party (prom theme of "Starry Night", which was FABULOUS). We kind of combined it together and got a hotel room nearby (our first "away" trip...we were both pretty excited). Saturday was the actual party, but our weekend started on Friday.

My weekends have been pretty much like this since the end of December 2005. It's suddenly March 2006. Time really does fly when you're having fun!

But...I know my boyfriend and I are about to start heading into "relationship territory". We have had fun for the past 3 months getting to know each other as a couple, that "honeymoom" phase still is happening...but the relationship part definitely is surfacing.

We had some discussions about my most recent past relationship, and I think I may not have immediate peace in my world as I would like to have it. I also have to understand that my boyfriend has a lot of female friends (you should see his My Space account), and it can become a bit intimidating at times.

DJ is a really charming guy (I've shortened it from DJ Steeler). He is an actual deejay, so that in itself makes him very personable. On top of that, he's really cute...and really tall (6'4"...I'm sure I've mentioned that before, but allow me to mention it again, which I just did). He's kind of exotic looking: dark features, dark eyes and hair...you can't really tell what nationality he is, and his last name is Chinese.

I've seen him "in action" as a deejay, and he garners a lot of attention. He already gets attention here at work, which be both are starting to really hate (he had little "flings" of very mild degrees of intensity with about 3 girls here at work, all of which I am aware of). It's amazing how bored people can get, you know? I feel like saying "Is your life that empty that you need to fill it up with what I'm doing?"

The bottom line is that this is a great relationship. We balance each other very well: DJ is INTENT on breaking me of my little routines, and I am intent on imposing some on him. I said to him the other day that he is planning a hostile take over of my life, and he said that he already has. I've already been told that he is quite different from the party boy that arrived from Las Vegas (yes, DO NOT LAUGH) back in 2003. He's still a bit rebellious and crazy, but now goes to school, has a good job, got a car and has me as his girlfriend.

We are both very happy. I used to laugh at people who had to communicate with their significant other more than twice daily...and here I am, doing that exact thing. We work together, but there is only so much PDA that you can do at work (basically NONE)...so we have to either get it in before or after work or by phone and text messaging.

Things have eased up with my mom and the whole situation. In fact, they meet each other this Friday (March 10), AND he meets my cousins at a party that same night. I'm nervous for him, and I hope they don't make comparisons to another boy in Vegas...

More to come.
